Basti Karma

Basti karma:
Basti is another important step of Pradhan karma. This therapy deals with vata disorders including musculo-skeletal disorders, joint pains, nervous disorders and digestive disorders. This therapy cleans the lower part of body.

There are 8 types of Basti karma are as follows:
1.Anuvasana basti(medicated oil enema).
2.Niruha-asthapana basti(herbal decoction enema).
3.Uttar basti(cleaning the urinary bladder and birth passage in women).
4. Matra basti(limited oil enema).
5.Yoga basti(scheduled enema).
6.Kala basti(scheduled enema of 15 days).
7.Karma basti(scheduled enema of 30 days).
8.Bruhan basti(nutritional enema).

Basti karma is effective in several diseases which are:
1.Constipation.
2. Impaired immunity.
3.Dry rectum.
4.Body debility.
5.Paralysis.
6.Loss of strength.
7.Headache.
8.Dysuria
9.Stiffness
10.Gout.

This therapy is not good for person suffering any disease like dysentery, diarrhea, breathlessness, severe anaemia, diabetes, hypoproteinaemia, tuberculosis and rectal bleeding.
