Ayurveda provides different-2 diet according to your primary body type. There are three principles in ayurveda for classifying your body type vata, kapha, and pitta. Most people has two principles and third in very small ratio.
Here is the diet for each type of body:
Pitta
Some characteristics of pitta dominant body are strong willed, good digestion, initiative, determination, energy, passionate about many things, and energetic.
According to ayurveda in the case of pitta dominant body cooling foods are very essential like fruits and green vegetables including watercress, parsley, and collards. Fruits should be fresh and sweet like coconut, sweet berries, sweet oranges, pomegranates, sweet apples and apricots, mango, figs, pineapples, watermelon, plums, and prunes. Dairy products are also very effective and beneficial for pitta type of body like cream, cheese, and milk. Barley, basmati rice, and wheat are also very suitable for pitta type of body. Protein is very suitable for pitta type of body.
Things that can be harmful for pitta dominant body type:
1.Over intake of oil, caffeine, alcohol, salt, and red meat.
2.Hot foods.
3.Hot times and climate.
Kapha
Some characteristics of kapha type of body are stamina, calm, groundedness, endurance, fluid, and strength.
Kapha type of body like to have bitter vegetables like broccoli, cauliflower, brussel sprouts, potatoes, eggplant, lettuce, onions, mushrooms, and corn cobs. Protein is not suitable for this type of body, so use less protein food. Kapha body type people should avoid much fat. Soy milk is very suitable for kapha type of body, some other foods that are suitable for kapha are bean, barely, chicken and turkey. Light and crispy food, like corn tortillas and popcorn are also suitable for kapha dominant body. A perfect food for kapha type of body must be spicy, light, free of dairy, and must have plenty of vegetables.
Things that can be harmful for kapha type of body:
1.Much fat in diet.
2.Dairy products.
3.Lack of variety in food.
4.Lack of exercise.
5.Inertia.
Vata:
Some characteristics for vata type of body are flexibility, quick mind, always ready mentally and physically, and creative.
According to ayurveda vata dominant body type should use warming spices like ginger, garlic, mint, anise, vanilla, cinnamon, caraway, cooked onion, rose water, tarragon, and paprika. These spices are very suitable for vata type of body. Person with vata type of body should minimize the use salads and raw vegetables and use only in warm days, it is not suitable in cold season. Fruits and cooked grains are very suitable for vata body type. Fruits like mango, banana, coconut, fig and cooked grains like basmati rice, oatmeal, are very good for vata dominant body type.
Things that can be harmful for vata body type:
1.Noise.
2.Sugar, drugs and alcohol.
3.Cold regions.
4.Dried fruits.
5.Traveling.
