When adults are overweight they can encounter problems with their health to include sleep apnea, cancer, gall bladder disease, stroke and heart disease. Rising obesity-related health care costs diminish people's quality of life and their pocketbooks.

A recent survey has shown that more than 1 billion adults are obese. It has been determined that obesity has trebled since the 1980's. Nearly 20% of children in every nation are obese. Children who are already obese also grow into obese adults. More than over 9,000 deaths a year are because of obesity.

Overeating and less physical activity are the main culprits. Intake of high calorie foods like burgers, diet cokes, fried foods and no physical activities make the person obese. People who are physical disabled and who cannot perform physical activities at a higher rate also become obese.

People who eat large single meals are more likely to become obese than their counterparts who eat less but frequent meals. Obesity may be caused even because of the underlying health problems like hypothyroidism, etc.
